Do You say the F word?

I got inspired to write this post after reading an article in Cosmo. It touches i think one of the most controversial subjects in modern world – Feminism.

I can already see male readers switching the page right now:-) Stay for a while and try to hear what im saying. Its not all about preaching female rights and abusing penis.

Have you ever wondered if the guy that sits beside you, does the same job that you do, has the same responsibilities, earns the same money that you? You might be making the effort to emphasize your status in the office but the truth is that woman in Ireland still earns 12.6% less than man.  This is equivalent to men being paid all the year round, while women work for free after 2nd November!

Since around 1970′s the war for equal pay in Ireland has been fought, and finally the Confederation of Irish Industry has agreed that equal pay could be in fact possible, but only after they cut male wages.

To these day men see equal pay as something that could become potential threat to there status, as the head of family that suppose to be the core of the family. So let me tell you something. As a woman i dont care about becoming a rival to any man out there and compete in the ”power” race. Im not planning on taking over your manly responsibilities just to give my ego a boost. You wont see me running around in dungarees, covered in muck because some things are better left to you guys. But if i feel like im able to fix the leaking sink dont be offended if i do it on my own. Not because i want to put myself in a place where i want to prove to the world that woman can. But because i dont want to be hiding behind my femininity to let you do things that would make you feel more of a man. I will still claim free dinners and drinks at the bar, because woman has to eat as well:-)

And i also want to be able to walk into that bar in mini skirt and stillethos without feeling like big piece of meat that is about to be ripped into chunks. Look, but put your hands where i can see them and dont move them until I give you the green light.

And to all man out there. There is plenty of good things that came out of Feminism!

Contraception for example, allows you to enjoy the best out of sex without the fear of being suddenly surrounded by crawling babies.

Divorce made it possible for both male and female to escape from unhappy relationships.

And since woman decide to get herself job, she has added to the household income without sacrificing the house jobs and childcare!

Another area where Feminism has positive affect on man is the emotional journey. How many man out there feels relieved that loved woman dosent have to see you as the Master, the core, but enjoys the equal partnership where both sides are fulfilled?

Since we became equal in the society the Master that no longer has to be Master can finally show his true feelings. You can cry when your team wins, we wont think any less of you other than you might have a problem, since you are looking at half naked bunch of guys and get emotional. But hey! Its your deal! Remember we cry when Paloma who loves Fernando, cant marry him because she is just poor cleaner and he is the boss.

So what do you think Ladies? Do you think of yourselves as equal ( just better looking), capable, and important woman? Remember that you have your rights and you can make it in the men’s world. Many other amazing woman fought for the right we have now. We are the new generation that can, and HAS TO continue fighting for all the rights that are still ought to us.

Im not encouraging anybody to go on the streets and burn your bras. I just want to see a world full of confident, powerful, beautiful women that knows what she is entitled to. That knows as much about new Chanel lipstick as about the political situation in Libya.

So will you say the F word today?
